Ed Dougherty
Ed Dougherty is 57 years of age and has practiced as a trial lawyer for over 32 years. He is a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Missouri.
Ed received his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Missouri at Columbia in 1975. He graduated from the University of Missouri / Kansas City Law School Cum Laude in 1978. Since becoming a member of the Bar in the Fall of 1978, Ed Dougherty has tried over 100 jury trials in various jurisdictions across the Midwest. He is not only a member of the State and Federal Bars in Missouri, but also the State and Federal Bars in Kansas and the Federal Bar in Arkansas. His trials have included vehicular accidents, premises liability, products liability, and medical malpractice. Ed Dougherty is a member of the Association of Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America and has handled and tried several vehicular accident cases involving semi-tractor trailer rigs. For over 25 years, Ed Dougherty has been rated by Martindale Hubble, a prestigious legal publication, as an AV Attorney, the highest rating available.
In addition to a civil trial practice, Ed Dougherty for the last two years has donated his time to CASA (court-appointed special advocate). This involves the representation of abused and neglected children as a Guardian ad Litem in the Greater Kansas City Area. Ed received the 2010 Volunteer Attorney of the Year award.
Ed has four grown children scattered throughout the United States, and two grandchildren. He enjoys travel (recently to Ireland), biking, tennis and associations with good friends. Ed is active in Restore Community Church where he leads small groups.
Phil Holloway
Phil is 45 years old and was born and raised in Kansas City, where he attended North Kansas City High School. He then attended William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri and earned a double major in business and communications. He received a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Law School in 1990. Phil is licensed to practice law in the states of Missouri and Kansas. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri, the District of Kansas, the Northern District of Illinois and the United States Court of Appeals for the 8th and 10th Circuit. Since becoming licensed to practice law, Phil has tried numerous jury trials in various jurisdictions throughout Missouri and Kansas. In his over 20 years of practice, Phil has worked primarily on cases involving vehicular accidents, semi-truck accidents, motorcycle accidents, and claims involving dangerous premises and dangerous products. His recognition by his peers in the legal community with a Martindale-Hubble rating of "A/V", which is the highest given, sets him at the top of his profession in both legal ability and professional integrity.
Phil is a member of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, the Kansas Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar, the Missouri Bar Association, and the Kansas Bar Association.
One of Phil's passions has been representing children involved in various accident claims. He is also active in the community regarding children's issues. Phil has been a member of the North Kansas City School District Board of Education for the past six years and has volunteered his time and served on Boards of various not-for-profit charity organizations. In 2006, he received the President's Award of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation for his work with elementary age children in an anti-bullying program. Phil is also a deacon at the Nashua Church of Christ where he teaches youth bible study groups.
Most importantly, Phil has a family. He has been married to his wife Kristen for 20 years and they have three children: Bailey (17), Madeline (14), and Bennett (11). When not practicing law or volunteering his time in the community, you will find Phil golfing, hunting, camping, coaching youth basketball, and enjoying time with his family.
